What partners ask about the memo program — timing, fees, returns, extensions, and the rest of the practical stuff.
Fourteen days from the day the piece arrives at your store. Extensions are routine when there's an active client conversation — just call the desk before the memo period closes.
No memo fees, no restocking fees, no penalties for returning pieces that don't sell. Outbound shipping is on us; partners cover return shipping and insurance.
Same-day for memo requests received before 4pm Eastern during normal business hours. Off-hours requests ship the next business morning. Standard memo is overnight, signed-receipt, fully insured. Saturday delivery and expedited service available on request.
Approved retail jewelers — independent stores, family-owned operations, and qualified trade buyers. Apply through Become a Partner; applications are reviewed within two business days.
Yes. Multi-piece memos are common for window builds, vault refreshes, trunk shows, and high-net-worth client appointments. There's no fixed cap; the number that makes sense depends on the use case. Note the use-case in the memo request and we'll curate accordingly.
The memo converts to a wholesale invoice at the listed price. Payment is Net 30 days. Sized pieces are sized at no charge.
Ship it back on the included return label. No fees. We don't track "return rates" or penalize partners for returning pieces — pieces don't sell sometimes, and we'd rather you return than push something that's not right for your floor.
Yes — extensions are routine. Call the desk before the memo period closes and we'll extend, usually to thirty days total. Longer extensions are available for active high-value client conversations on a case-by-case basis.
MDJ insures pieces during outbound shipping, up to the listed wholesale value. Once the partner signs for the piece, the partner is responsible — including return shipping and insurance, until the piece is signed back in at MDJ. Partners' standard jewelers' block coverage typically satisfies this.
Yes — and we encourage it. Trunk show placements are scheduled at least four weeks in advance. Trunk show memos require a minimum $100,000 selection with a 10% guaranteed sell-through; multi-piece curated selections (typically 20–40 pieces) are built around the event. See Inventory Placement for the formal program.
Memo pieces are intended for in-person retail and private client conversations. Listing memo pieces online (your e-commerce, marketplace platforms, social media auctions) requires explicit prior approval. The memo program is built around the trust that pieces are being shown to qualified clients in considered conversations.
