How MDJ's wholesale pricing structure works — what's firm, what flexes, and the philosophy behind it.

How is wholesale pricing structured?

Each piece in the catalog has a single firm wholesale price visible to approved partners. There is no tier system, no volume-discount ladder, no negotiated-account-by-account pricing. The price you see is the price every approved partner sees for the same piece.

This is deliberate. We've found that partners appreciate knowing they're getting the same fair pricing as the largest retail jeweler on the network — and that we're not negotiating one floor against another.

What's a typical retail markup on MDJ pieces?

Pieces ship pre-ticketed at a 4x retail markup — a starting point, not a requirement. Most partners sell in the neighborhood of 2x the wholesale price, depending on the era, the maker, the showroom, and the client. We don't impose minimum advertised pricing or other resale restrictions — partners price for their own market.

Are there volume discounts?

No standing volume discount program. Wholesale prices are firm. We do extend special consideration on multi-piece estate liquidations to a single buyer, and on full-collection acquisitions where a partner is buying ten or more pieces for a vault buildout. These are arranged by phone, not by automated discount.

Does memo pricing differ from outright purchase pricing?

No. Pieces sold on memo (post-conversion) are invoiced at the same wholesale price as outright purchases. The memo program isn't a different pricing tier; it's a different fulfillment path to the same wholesale price.

What currency? International pricing?

All wholesale prices are listed in US dollars. International partners (Canada, Mexico, UK, EU, Australia) see USD pricing and invoices. Currency conversion is handled by the partner's bank at wire time. International partners are responsible for any duties, taxes, and customs charges in their jurisdiction.

Payment terms

Standard terms are Net 30 days. Wire transfer and check accepted; we do not accept credit card for wholesale invoices.

Stock purchases over $10,000 are paid in three equal installments, due at 30, 60, and 90 days. Standing accounts may be set up with custom terms after the first six months of relationship.

Do prices ever change?

Periodically, yes. As the market moves and as our acquisition costs change, individual piece prices may be adjusted for new memos. Pieces already on memo retain the price quoted at memo time, even if catalog pricing changes.

We don't run sales, promotional pricing, or seasonal discounts. The catalog price is the price.
